The Professionals

The Professionals by Owen Laukkanen, 372 pages.

An uneven, but mostly enjoyable thriller about four college friends, all under employed in a down economy, who try to make big money through a series of carefully planned kidnappings. The plan, like the plot of the book itself, almost works. I think Laukkanen's second effort, Criminal Enterprise is a better book, and I look forward to reading the soon-to-be-released Kill Fee.
