Good Turn by Kate Atkinson, 418 pages. Jackson Brodie, retired police officer and private investigator, accompanies his actress girlfriend to the Edinburgh arts festival where he witnesses an assault that seems to set off a host of crimes, from shoplifting to murder. Brodie spends more time than he would like answering questions for the local police, even as his own questions to his girlfriend go unanswered. Atkinson is a wonderful writer, her characters are complicated and fun to watch. Highly recommended. Check our catalog. Ebook |
