Life after Life

Life after Life by Kate Atkinson, 529 pages.
Ursula is born in the winter of 1910 and promptly dies. She lives a little longer on her next go-round, starting on the same day, but it takes her several tries to get a really good streak going. It's a fascinating, well-written story, or series of stories.
Kathleen and Linda both had good things to say about this book, and that caused me to pick it up. I am glad that I did. This was also one of my favorites so far this year. Atkinson is really something special.
For fans of slip-stream fantasy (where things are just a little bit off), World War II era and English Historical fiction.

Some of the lessons we all learn along with Ursula:
There are very few paths to a life of uninterrupted happiness. You can never really please your mother. And several times: stay away from THAT guy.
