Murder By Gravity by Barbara Graham (2014) 287 pages
The action from this Quilted Mystery series book takes place mostly in Park County, Tennessee, in the small town of Silersville. Sheriff Tony Abernathy is dealing with issue after issue in his county, beginning with an early season snowstorm, someone finding human bones in the root cellar of his rental house, someone else reporting that her husband's casket, which had graced her living room for the last several years, was stolen, and yet someone else reporting that a man had fallen to his death, along with his $8,000 fishing rod, from a biplane. There's more, and the issues are all rather gripping.
The book reads like a day-in-the-life of Sheriff Tony Abernathy, chronicling about a week's worth of events. There are many characters, including Tony's wife, who is a quilter named Theo, and his kids and his extended family, as well as numerous people from the police department and community. The character development was good; I felt that I really knew these people from Tony's perspective. Read it for yourself to see how the issues work out!
