This book includes an amazing array of black and white photographs from 1936 to 1949 in chronological order, taken by gutsy Life Magazine photographers sent all around the battle areas before and during World War II. There is also enough writing to bring context to the photos for someone like me without the most rigorous knowledge of WWII.
[The U. City Public Library is filled with treasures that I wouldn't know to look for. I happened upon this coffee-table type book by chance in the area with the history books.]
