Red birds / Mohammed Hanif, read by David Bendena, 283 pgs.
Three main characters share the narrative of this creative novel by Hanif. Ellie is a pilot sent to bomb a camp but he crashes before delivering his payload. Momo is the local teen who finds him and Mutt is Momo's dog who has a "fried brain" but is clearly the smartest one in the book. The story follows Ellie, trying to find his way back. Momo who is trying to find his brother who was "sold" to the enemy by their father, and Mutt who is observing and commenting on everyone in camp. Along with a cast of other minor characters, this books takes you on a metaphysical journey, the end of which is slightly murky. Wonderfully written and ably narrated by David Bendena.
