Likely Stories by Neil Gaiman, art by Mark Buckingham, 80 pages
In a private drinking club, patrons share stories from their pasts. One is about an odd venereal disease, another's about a photographer's obsession with a nude model. A third tells of his raw-meat-eating neighbor, and the fourth is a twist on a classic ghost story. These four kinda-linked stories by the master storyteller Gaiman are illustrated by the wonderful Buckingham, and while a non-graphic version of this exists, I don't want to see it. This was a perfect medium, and several of Buckingham's panels will be seared into my brain for a long time to come. A chilling read for a hot summer day.
