It is hard for me to imagine a woman more suited to becoming
the first African-American First Lady or one who could handle the strains and
challenges of this most public position with greater grace. Her memoir is beautifully written as well as
fascinating. We were lucky to have her
and I hope she continues to engage in our national discourse. But, of course, and I also mean “course,” it’s
also so sad to compare it to our current administration. Worth the endless hold list (and I actually
finally found it on the Hot Reads after two months of waiting). 426 pp.
