Digger Vol. 5

Digger Vol. 5 by Ursula Vernon  144 pp.

Digger, the monk Murai, and Grim Eyes, the hyena head out on the quest assigned to them by the Ganesha statue in Vol. 4. They meet a deer headed guide named Herne who leads them to the base of the snow covered mountain they must climb. Along the way Shadowchild joins them. They reach the monastery at the top of the mountain to find it abandoned. There they speak to spirit beings, including that of Digger's ancient wombat ancestor. Shadowchild saves the life of the travelers and in the process learns many things and grows. Digger is saddened when the changed the little demon has found a new purpose in "life" and leaves the group. An appendix of random documents from the library of the Temple of Ganesh follows the story.
