Kingdom of the blind, by Louise Penny

This may be au revoir  to Three Pines.  It seems to be the last of the series set in this mythical Quebec village which features an endearing cast of recurring characters and some memorable villains.  Penny modeled Inspecter Gamache on her husband, Michael, who died before the previous title was published.  She writes that she didn’t really think that Armand Gamache would outlive him, but found herself sitting down one day and beginning Kingdom of the blind.  So many loose threads are tied up, that I suspect this is the last book.  If you haven’t gotten acquainted with the delights of this remarkable series, do start with the first book, Still life.  You’ll want to space out the series to make it last.  Now, would someone please bring me some hot chocolate, a fresh croissant, and a cozy fire to enjoy them in front of. 389 pp.
