City of Bones by Cassandra Clare, 485 pages
Normal girl Clary Fray is going about her business when she stumbles upon a dangerous situation between two not-so-normal guys. Turns out one of them is a demon and the other is a Shadowhunter (fancy word for a demon-killer). Suddenly she's swept into their world, finding out that her whole life (and all of her memories) is not at all what she thought it was. And then there's the dreamy guy...
This is the first of Clare's (not to be confused with Clary, our protagonist) Mortal Instruments books, which promises a heck of a battle between the good and bad Shadowhunter factions, with plenty of other supernatural beings thrown in for good measure. This isn't the best YA book I've read by a long shot, but it's not bad either. I'll definitely keep reading to see what's in store for Clary and her new pals.
