Reset

Reset: my fight for inclusion and lasting change / Ellen Pao, 274 pgs.

This memoir recounts Pao's lawsuit against her employer, a powerhouse venture capital firm who retaliated against her suit by firing her.  The suit became the talk of the own in Silicon Valley.  Outspent by her opponents, she ended up losing her lawsuit but retained the right to talk about what happened.  Thus, this book.

Having no real idea about the world of venture capital does not make it difficult to understand the workplace situation Ellen faced. Have you ever been in a meeting where someone is ignored or talked over?  Have you ever seen someone make a suggestion that is ignored, then the same suggestion made by someone else is hailed?  If you haven't noticed this, maybe start paying closer attention.

Although I can't imagine how difficult it was to follow through with suing her employer, I'm glad that she did so we can have this book.  I'm sure many women will read this book and have no problem relating.  It is more important that men and bosses read it and work on improving work places.
