The storied life of A J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin

The storied life of A J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin  320 pgs.

This is an engaging and witty story that will appeal to book lovers and book sellers.  Set in a quaint little bookstore on a fictional island (think Martha’s Vineyard) the story centers around A.J. Fikry, the recently widowed and depressed owner of the bookstore.  Woven throughout the tale are situations involving the book-selling business, romance, unexpected fatherhood, book clubs as well as a laugh out loud author visit.  Each chapter is prefaced by a letter recommending a book, usually a short story--A.J.’s preferred reading, as a way for A.J. to pass down his love of books to one of the main characters.  This is one of those books to be read, beginning to end, ignoring house work, yard work, feeding of children, etc.
