The Guernsey literary and potato peel pie society

The Guernsey literary and potato peel pie society / Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows 277 pgs.

I'm late to the party with this one.  A delightful epistolary novel that takes place right after WWII.  Juliet Aston is a popular writer based on her war time column under her nom de plume Izzy Bickerstaff.  Now she is trying to figure out her next book when an interesting letter comes from a man on Guernsey who found her name in the second hand book by Charles Lamb.  A lot of correspondence follows as Juliet learns more about the literary society on Guernsey that started during the German occupation.  Juliet ends up visiting Guernsey and finding a new subject for her next book.  Everyone else was right about this book, it is fantastic.

  1. I loved this book -- the author has great characters and plenty of humor and twists to keep my interest. It is one I've read a couple of times at this point, which I don't do often with novels.
