Stitches: a memoir

by David Small; Graphic Novel; 336 pages

For all that this book was mostly pictures, it wasn't an easy read at all. Small endures much as a child, and while the ending is ultimately hopeful, there are images from here that are going to stay with me.

  1. Yeah, I looked at the cover and thought I wouldn't be able to take it.

  2. Yeah, there are some almost haunting scenes in this book. The faces are so expressive and the dreams are so sad and angry. You just want to give the six year old a hug and tell him everything will be alright (even though it won't be for a long time).
