The Fun Family by Benjamin Frisch 236 pp.
Cartoonist Robert Fun is the creator of a much beloved "Family Circus" style comic based on his own family. The reality of his family is much darker and a bit creepier. When the marriage falls apart, Robert settles into a severe depression and the two children living with him have to somehow provide for their needs. In the meantime, Robert's wife is becomes wrapped up in relationships with their therapist and a guru. The daughter is having visions of her late grandmother. The whole family is on the disturbing side and as far from the cute and lovable "Family Circus" family as it can get. I can't say I "enjoyed" this book but it held my attention from beginning to end.
