The broken ladder: how income inequality affects the way we thing, live and die / Keith Payne, 246 pgs.
This book covers the effects of inequality on individual and society. There are a lot of ways to examine this phenomenon. Payne looks at psychological effects, physical effects, and moral effects of inequality. This is not just a study on poverty. People who are fairly rich feel the effects of inequality if they are around people who are even more rich. What happens when you get a raise but continue to compare yourself to people with higher incomes? You spend that raise trying to keep up. Lots of other interesting information here.
