Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, 435 pages
In his third year at Hogwarts, Harry deals with dementors, Quidditch, being left out of weekend holidays in Hogsmeade, and, oh yeah, the escape from prison of Sirius Black, the one-time friend of Harry's parents who apparently led to their demise. Yeah, this is where the series grows up a bit and gets good and dark, and that's why this is my favorite of the series. I loved sharing it with my six-year-old daughter, and we can't wait to start in on book 4.
