The Hospital Suite / John Porcellino 241 pages
John Porcellino is a cartoonist who tells here of his myriad of health problems he has suffered from over the years. For long stretches, the ill effects he suffered from were unexplained. Finally a tumor was found which, the removal of, dramatically improved his situation. But the progress was short lived. He, at one time or another, suffered from very sensitive hearing that made everyday noises very difficult to withstand, he had digestive issues that resulted in significant weight loss, and a mineral deficit that affected many other body parts. In between significant physical ailments, his mental state would also go out of whack. Mild OCD would blossom into full fledged attacks that made it difficult to work.
This is a moving book. This guy lost a lot of his life, in many ways, to illness but perhaps found what was important and came face to face with his own mortality.
