He's also gay, and a bit nervous about coming out to his new teammates, who have otherwise welcomed him (and his many pies) with open arms. Doesn't help that he's managed to develop a crush on dreamboat team captain Jack Zimmerman, the son of NHL star and the Samwell player most likely to go pro after graduation.
I loved this book SO MUCH. It has so many things going for it: acceptance, friendship, hockey jargon, baking. It treats all of its characters with kindness and support, just like a hockey team should. And I love the story behind this comic — a Nigerian American woman from Texas who fell in love with hockey through a class project? Awesome!! I can't wait for the second volume to come out!
