The science book: big ideas simply explained 352 pgs.
Not an easy book to just sit and read, this is more like an encyclopedia of the big ideas of science arranged chronologically. Each entry tells you about the discovery and how it fits into the history of that branch of science. There are many short biographical entries about the person responsible for the discovery.
The colorful layout, photos and text boxes make this a real pleasure to look at and I found every entry well done and fairly easy to understand.
