Can't We Talk about Something More Pleasant by Roz Chast, 228 pages
New Yorker cartoonist, Chast tells the story of her parents' last years in a series of funny and touching (and crazy) illustrated vignettes. Her parents met, and married, and lived their lives together in the same small apartment in Brooklyn. Chast fled when she could, and recounts how, decades later, she reluctantly returns, with treks in from her suburban home increasing in frequency as her aging parents need (but don't necessarily want) more and more help and support.
Well worth the effort. The art is great and really conveys the anxiety, dread, and conflict in trying to deal with end-of=life issues while also dealing with the craziness that has been there all along.
