Lost Light / Michael Connelly 360 p.
My first experience with Connelly's Harry Bosch, late of the LAPD. Harry is recently retired but unable to let go of an old case involving a young woman found murdered in her apartment building's lobby. The case may or may not involve a heist of $2 million in cash from a Hollywood movie set and the disappearance of an FBI agent. For help, Harry turns to another retired colleague shot in the line of duty and left a quadriplegic. Connelly does a great job showing us the misery of this wounded cop and Harry's discomfort at being with him. He also explores issues surrounding the FBI, the Patriot Act, and the power of law enforcement very effectively. The only weakness was a sidebar involving Harry's personal life which had a slightly cheesy quality. On the whole, a great thriller and enjoyable audiobook.
