Sara

Sara / Garth Ennis, Steve Epting, Elizabeth Breitweiser,  unpaged

It's 1942 and Sara is part of an elite group of  Soviet women snipers at the front, battling the Nazis.  Sara has become a legend for the shocking number of kills she's achieved, but that doesn't mean she's got it easy.  She scorns the gung-ho patriotism and not-so-subtle surveillance of their local NKVD representative Raisa, and when she learns the truth about what happened to her home village, her grief and anger threaten to get her in real trouble.  The art is most evocative when Sara is perched high in a tree in the midst of a hunt.  An interesting slice of WWII experience.
