Vera Kelly is not a mystery / Rosalie Knecht, 253 pages.
I read and enjoyed the first book in this series but was confounded by at least some of it. This book improves on everything I liked about the last one and leaves out all the parts I didn't quite understand. A total win! Vera is an interesting character who has all the toughness and attitude that she needs to get a job done. She has left the employ of the CIA after her last mission where she felt abandoned. She puts out a shingle as a private investigator. After many run of the mill surveillance type jobs, she gets a lovely couple looking for their nephew who has gone missing. The story turns out much more exciting and gives us a look into some international politics and intrigue. Vera manages it all with her sublime dry humor.
