Dark Days of Hamburger Halpin by Josh Berk 248 pages
Will Halpin transfers from his all-deaf school into a mainstream Pennsylvania high school. He faces discrimination and bullying. When the star quarterback falls to his death in an old mine shaft, he uses his lipreading skills and innate smarts to solve the mystery. An unusual sports mystery with an unlikely hero, this is a breezy read.
