Knit in Comfort by Isabel Sharpe, 300 pp.

It's true. When I'm not knitting or quilting, I'm reading stories about people who knit and quilt. I'm nothing if not predictable. This yarn [sorry] is set in the small town of Comfort, North Carolina, where Elizabeth makes a getaway from her life in NYC--her famous chef boyfriend is in Paris anyway, so why not? There, she befriends the Purls, a group of knitters, but especially Megan, who has resigned herself to her husband's double life, almost blaming herself that she and her children don't "complete him." Sheesh. I find it rare that a good story has good stitching (i.e., details about knitting or quilting that are accurate and interesting). In Sharpe's novel, there is a lovely story behind the story of main character, Megan, of her Scottish female decendants, lace knitters, all. And the lace knitting described in the novel??? Something to savor.
